KUCHING: A power outage at Sarikei, Tanjung Manis, Daro and surrounding areas yesterday evening was caused by a double tripping incident that occurred along the Kemantan-Sarikei 132kV line.
It interrupted supply to these areas at around 5.40 pm, Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB) said in a press statement today.
The SEB technical team was immediately deployed and was able to safely re-energise the lines and restore supply progressively by 6.25pm.
A subsequent tripping incident involving the Sarikei-Tanjung Manis 132kV line occurred at 7.06pm affecting the same areas.
Sarikei-Tanjung Manis 132kV lines were re-energised at 7.15pm.
“Heavy lightning activity in the areas affected was highly likely to have caused both tripping incidents,” the statement read.
The SEB technical team assured the public that they will continue to monitor the situation and are on standby to ensure quick restoration.
“Sarawak Energy apologises for any inconvenience caused by the incidents,” the statement said.
