Abang Aditajaya targets over 50pct members turnout during branch’s election to elect chairman

SIBU: Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Tanjung Manis branch chairman candidate Datuk Seri Abang Aditajaya Abang Alwi is targeting between 50 and 60 per cent of members turnout during the coming election to elect the branch’s chairman on Nov 3.

According to him, his team managed to register a total of 1,350 new members within eight months in Tanjung Manis area.

“Until Sept 29, our branch has more than 2,230 registered members.

“Our branch election which is the 222th branch election and the final one in the nation, after the recent Igan branch election,” he said in the press conference here yesterday.

Also present was chairman of PKR Sibu branch Abdul Raafidin Majidi.

Abang Aditajaya who is also the chairman of the Malaysia Bumiputera Contractors Association (PKBM) Sarawak, said the nomination of PKR Tanjung Manis branch committee members would be held today from 10am to 5pm at the branch premises.

He said the campaign period is 13 days starting from Oct 21 until Nov 2.

“Thus, l hope our members will come out in full force on the coming election for the top leader who can serve the members,” he said.

He also took the opportunity during the press conference to announce a few initiatives for PKR members in Tanjung Manis if he is elected to the branch’s top post.

Among them were the establishment of Koperasi Tanjung Manis Berhad, formation of Yayasan Tanjung Manis and immediate assistance for members in Tanjung Manis.

“We also offer other initiatives such as special aid, free legal aid for members, business assistance for members in small and medium industry, agricultural assistance, fishermen assistance, tertiary education aids, setting up of Tanjung Manis football Academy as well as setting up of Tanjung Manis Digital Centre,” he said.
