KUALA LUMPUR: Sarawak leaders will continue to take into account ideas from youths to ensure that they are included in the state’s policies or initiatives.

Petra Jaya MP Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof said the ideas would include suggestions and recommendations from those attending the annual ‘Lan Berambeh Anak Sarawak’ event.

“This year, our dialogue is to hear our youths’ ideas and concerns especially on education, social issues, job opportunities and housing.

“We hope that from the dialogue, they would propose suggestions and resolutions to the Honourable Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg.

“It’s for inclusion in the policies or initiatives of the state government,” the MP said during a press conference, held in conjunction with Lan Berambeh Anak Sarawak 2019, at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (Mitec) here yesterday.

Fadillah cited Sarawak having implemented the Returning Graduate Initiative (I-GPS) as an example – the I-GPS would provide flight ticket assistance to allow Sarawakians studying in the peninsula and also Sabah, to return home and celebrate festive occasions.

“This is the result of our youth outreach session, and we can help with I-GPS,” he said.

This year marked the 13th edition of Lan Berambeh Anak Sarawak, organised to foster the spirit of unity amongst Sarawakians of all backgrounds, who are either studying or working in Peninsular Malaysia.

It was run by Sarawak Volunteers Association, with the support of the Sarawak government and in collaboration with the Sarawak Liaison Office in Kuala Lumpur.

This year’s organising chairman was Bintulu MP Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing.

As in previous years, the ‘Sarawak Agenda’ featured Abang Johari in the townhall session, #TanyakAbangJo.

Overall, Lan Berambeh Anak Sarawak 2019 attracted nearly 10,000 and involved the participation of 31 government agencies, nine government-linked companies (GLCs) and 43 entrepreneurs.
