BINTULU: The body of an unidentified man, who was feared drowned while putting up a fishing net was found at Tanjong Kidurong beach this morning.

Bintulu police chief Supt Zulkipli Suhaili when contacted today, said a report about the case was received at about 10.45am and police patrol team was deployed to the scene to carry out an investigation.

He said they could not identify the victim as he was found without personal documents.

“From our preliminary investigation, the man’s body was pulled out from the water by a member of the public and was later pronounced dead by the medical staff at the scene,” said Zulkipli.

He said based on information from a witness at the scene, the victim might have drowned while putting up a fishing net.

“Inspection on the victim’s body found no element of crime and the case is classified as sudden death,” he added.

The body was sent to Bintulu hospital mortuary for a postmortem.

Zulkipli urged those who had missing family members to come forward to assist in police investigation.
