KUCHING: Two roads here namely Jalan Main Bazaar and Jalan Gambier will be closed to traffic from Oct 26 until Nov 3 in conjunction with the 2019 Sarawak Regatta.

Kuching district police chief ACP Awang Din Awang Gani said the roads would be closed to all vehicles from 8 am to 12.30 pm and a temporary traffic diversion would be carried out during the period.

“Vehicles coming from Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman are advised to go straight towards Jalan Ban Hock or Jalan McDougall to avoid getting caught in traffic congestion due to road closure in Jalan Main Baazar.

“While motorists coming from Jalan Haji Taha can make a U-turn at the Masjid Bahagian roundabout to avoid congestion due to Jalan Gambier closure,” he said in a statement today.

“To attend the event, members of the public are advised to park their vehicles at designated parking lots on the left side of Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman, Poliklinik Jalan Masjid and Jalan Khoo Hun Yeang,” he said in a statement today.

Awang Din said all parking lots along Jalan Main Baazar heading towards Jalan Tun Abang Haji Openg would be vacated on Nov 3 from 6.30 am to 4 pm.

Members of the public are advised to plan their journey on the day and follow the traffic signage and directions from police officers during the road closure. – Bernama
