Women’s bureaus vital to assist JKKK — Rosey

Rosey sounds a gong to officially launch the women’s bureau.

MIRI: The setting up of women’s bureaus in every longhouse and kampung is vital to assist the respective village security and development committees to look into welfare and development issues.

Assistant Minister of Welfare, Community Well Being, Women, Family and Childhood Development Rosey Yunus said women actually live in the longhouses and villages, therefore play bigger roles in implementing activities.

“With the establishment of women’s bureaus in every kampung and longhouse, they will be more effective in organising more women’s and community activities,” she said when launching the Rumah Limbang Kaiyang women’s bureau.

She explained that women’s bureaus play an important in promoting the economic and social well-being of the community.

Women’s bureau committee members serve as a support group for the JKKK and would always provide assistance to those in distress and share their joys during celebrations, she said.

“Women’s bureaus help maintain unity and cooperation in villages and longhouses in ensuring peace and harmony,” Rosey added.

She said women’s bureau committee members are also encouraged to learn various skills such as tailoring, cooking, and baking to help with the household income.

The Bekenu assemblywoman announced an RM5,000 for the Rumah Limbang Kaiyang women’s bureau and
RM15,000 for the JKKK to build a store and organise various activities.
