San Francisco welcomes Sarawak with PCMA signing ceremony

SINGAPORE: Sarawak’s position in the global business events (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions) industry was boosted by a signing ceremony between Business Events Sarawak (BESarawak) by Sarawak Convention Bureau and world-renowned Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA) at ITB Asia on 17 October 2019 at Marina Bay Sands, Singapore during PCMA Knowledge Exchange session.

The signing ceremony marks an official agreement between Malaysia’s pioneer convention bureau and the association giant to welcome the Sarawak delegation for the upcoming PCMA Convening Leaders from January 6 to 9, 2020 in San Francisco.

This is a gathering of Business Events strategists and industry leaders to network with some of the world’s most influential figures in the industry and discuss on current industry strategies and disruptors.

BESarawak’s chief operating officer, Amelia Roziman, affirmed the State’s commitment in expanding the industry’s potential.

“This collaboration is going to weld a solid relationship between Sarawak and the global industry for all areas of business events. PCMA Convening Leaders 2020 will become a milestone for the delegation as we showcase Sarawak’s real strengths in ‘Legacy Impact Programme’ – the ultimate programme designed to drive social and economic transformations for the community led by the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture Sarawak. This is momentous.”

PCMA Convening Leaders 2020 Sarawak Delegation will include the Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Sarawak, Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, Sarawak State Secretary, Datuk Amar Jaul Samion, Permanent Secretary of Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Sarawak Hii Chang Kee and several industry partners plus the BESarawak team.

2019 has been a significant year for the industry as BESarawak expands its focus on how impactful business events is to social, business and government communities by identifying the core elements of each event under Sarawak’s 7 Key Focus Areas (Urban Development/Redevelopment, Environment Development, Social Development, Industrial Development including SCORE Focus Areas, Agriculture Development, Service Industry and Digital Economy).
