Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg was guest of honour at the SBF gala dinner on Friday.

SBF president Datuk Abang Abdul Karim Tun Openg said SBF has organised CMIEA since 2017.

“CMIEA is the highest such award in the state and more significantly, to recognise and celebrate the achievements of successful Sarawakian companies.”

Abang Abdul Karim said SBF, as the voice of the local business community, advocates for the interests of members.

“We seek the government’s continuous support, cooperation, and collaboration in positioning SBF to better advocate for its members,” he said.

During the dinner, SBF signed memoranda of understanding with the Singapore Business Federation and the Malaysian Chamber of Commerce (Hong Kong and Macau).

Abang Abdul Karim pointed out regional and domestic cooperation is important to foster greater understanding and to further enhance bilateral economic cooperation and growth for mutual benefit.

“In this, we also call upon the respective governments to renew their commitment to promote close integration and harmonisation of markets in this region,” he said.
