PONTIAN: The Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Ministry (MOA) is targeting 1,000 participants for the ‘Rezeki Tani’ programme over the next two years, its minister Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub said yesterday.

He said these participants will receive aid of RM10,000 each in agriculture equipment.

“For the next two years, we are targeting 1,000 participants who will be carefully selected. We are looking for people we need to help, not those who come to us claiming they are poor.

“If the programme proves effective, I will not hesitate to ask for additional allocation,” he told reporters after launching the Fisheries Day here.

Also present was Fisheries director-general Datuk Munir Mohd Nawi.

On another development, Salahuddin said the ministry was drafting a blueprint to help farmers and coastal fishermen in the B40 group.

The blueprint, expected to be ready next year, is aimed at removing them from the B40 group, he added. — Bernama
