KUCHING: The village security and development committees (JKKKs) in Pantai Damai constituency unanimously reject the setting up of the Federal Village Community Management Council (MPKKP) in Sarawak.

This was revealed by Assistant Minister of Utilities (Water Supply) Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi, who said they feared that the Pakatan Harapan (PH) initiated MPKKP would bring a lot of problems that could create negative issues in Pantai Damai constituency and the state.

“We unanimously reject the MPKKP coming to Sarawak including into our constituency because it will bring big problems to all of us. To allow MPKKP to come to Sarawak is like allowing Sarawak to be ruled once again by outsiders,” stressed Dr Abdul Rahman.

He was speaking at the closing of the Pantai Damai Constituency Leadership Seminar organised by the Pantai Damai Service Centre at a local hotel here yesterday.

It was attended by around 100 community leaders, deputy PBB Pantai Damai chief councillor Drahman Jaladin and PBB members from the constituency.

Dr Abdul Rahman, who is also Pantai Damai assemblyman, reminded the community leaders that the next state election would be held very soon.

“We all need integrated strength among us especially when the next state election is said to be not the same as in the past because our opponents are not typical hillbillies and we are facing one big machinery that intends to rule our state.

“Sarawak cannot be ruled by others, that is why unity becomes our main essence. Be careful of elements from outside that will try to sneak into our villages. They will find any loopholes to conquer and rule.

In their talk, PBB Information chief Dato Idris Buang and UiTM lecturer Dr Saudi Narani both spoke on legal perspectives to confront MPKKP.

“Starting from next week, our law experts will tell us how to respond to MPKKP at the highest level, and hopefully that will be followed with an official announcement,” Dr Abdul Rahman said, and reminded all to remain faithful to the leadership of Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg.

Pemanca Roshidi Junai

Meanwhile, Pemanca for Kuching Utara, Pemanca Roshidi Junai, said the creation of MPKKP suggested by the PH government in Sarawak went against the institution of community leaders and JKKK which had been established in Sarawak for a long time.

“As we all know, their objective of creating MPKK is political, which is supported by the ‘kitul-kitul’ (traitors) or the stooges in the state to assist their Peninsula counterparts. We strongly oppose the existence of MPKKP in Sarawak,” stressed Roshidi.
