The front end of the vehicle became lodged in a ditch due to the accident.
KUCHING: A 67-year-old male driver perished in a self-accident at Jalan Batu Gong, Siburan at around 10.55am this morning.
Padawan district police chief Supt Aidil Bolhassan who confirmed the incident said the deceased has been identified as Gindi Dudut from Taman Batu Gong.
“It is believed that the deceased lost control of his vehicle as he was heading to Jalan Kuching – Serian from Taman Batu Gong,” said Aidil in a statement.
The deceased was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel.
He was believed to have suffered serious head injuries in the mishap, which led to his death.
The case is classified under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 and the deceased’s vehicle has since been towed to the Padawan police headquarters for further checks.
A post mortem is scheduled to be conducted at the Sarawak General Hospital at 9am today (Oct 31).
