KAPIT: Many people are still calling on Rural Water Supply Department (JBALB) to improve the water delivery system to the consumers here.

Chairman of Kapit Chinese Chamber of Commerce, Kapitan Ling Hung Pin, is the latest one to call on the department to do something concrete to the water treatment plant to ensure uninterrupted water supply here.

“Enough is enough. This month is really a disappointment in as far as water supply is concerned. Everybody is affected. Somebody responsible for the maintenance, repair and upgrading of the system has failed in their work.

“While we appreciate that the department has issued a notice to carry out maintenance, repair and upgrading works at the water treatment plant from Oct 28 to Nov 10, 14 days is a long period of inconvenience.

“The department should consider doing the work during the long school holidays when the boarding students are away in their respective villages and longhouses.

“Members of the Kapit Chinese Chamber of Commerce, especially coffee shop operators, are also badly affected. Business is really bad for them,” he said.

Ling appealed to the department to overcome the issue fast for the sake of all.

Meanwhile, the department in a press statement yesterday called on consumers to store enough water for their daily use.

It apologised for the water supply disruption, saying it was unavoidable.
