KUCHING: This year’s BB Love Box project is targeting to collect 20,000 gifts.

The gift categories are student – with gifts including school bags and stationery sets, and family – with gifts such as 5kg rice, 2kg cooking oil, and 1kg salt.

Beneficiaries are those in rural areas identified by the Welfare Department, as well as social organisations such as homes for the elderly, orphanages, and dialysis centres across Sarawak.

In Kuching, collection counters are located at Boulevard Shopping Mall, Vivacity Megamall, and Crown Square, which are open daily from 10am to 8pm until Dec 8.

The Sibu collection counter at Farley Supermarket will operate from 10am to 8pm daily until Nov 30.

Miri’s collection counter at Bintang Megamall, which started on Oct 23, will operate from 10am to 9pm daily until Nov 23.

The other collection point is at Bintulu’s Farley Supermarket, until Nov 30, from 10am to 9pm daily.

Organised by The Boys’ Brigade of Sarawak District, BB Love Box is a community project that coordinates the collection and distribution of gifts to people in need during Christmas, regardless of race or religion.

It began in 2012 with a target of 2,500 gifts.

In the past seven years, 43,000 gifts have been distributed to those in need, with 16,000 gifts collected last year.
