LimKokWing University scholarship for Miss Tourism International winner, runner-up

CYBERJAYA: Beginning this year, Miss Tourism International winner and the first runner-up will be offered scholarships worth RM1 million to study any course at any LimKokWing University of Creative Technology worldwide.

The four-year sponsorship for the Miss Tourism International winners and runner-ups from 2019 to avail, was formalised through a memorandum of understanding (MoU) inked between the university and Miss Tourism International at the university’s main campus here today.

Miss Tourism International was represented by its president and founder Tan Sri Danny Ooi who signed the MoU while the LimKokWing University was represented by Joud Ali Khomayes, from LimKokWing University faculty of fashion and lifestyle creativity.

In his speech at the event, Ooi said the memorandum brought the cooperation between the university and the pageant which began five years back to greater heights.

According to a previous report, since 2014, LimKokWing University has granted RM3 million worth of scholarships to winners of Miss Tourism International to promote edu-tourism around the world.

The Miss Tourism International 2019 will be crowned during the world final in Kuala Lumpur next Friday (8 Nov).

The pageant which entered its 22nd edition this year was first held in Sarawak in 1994.

This year, 40 participants will vie for the title. Among the participants for Miss Tourism International 2019 are from Australia, Bulgaria, Egypt, Macedonia and Ukraine while Malaysia will be represented by Cheryl Loo. – Bernama
