Sikh Temple receives RM70,000 from Unifor

SIBU: Sibu Sikh Temple (Gurdwara Sahib Sibu) received RM70,000 from the state government through Unit For Other Religions (Unifor) yesterday.

The cheque was handed over by Housing and Public Health Assistant Minister Dr Annuar Rapaee to Sibu Sikh Temple Association president Jagjiwan Singh.

“This is part of our state government’s contribution under Unifor, headed by Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah.

“We are giving funding to the Sibu Sikh Temple and Sri Maha Mariamman Temple today(yesterday),” he told reporters after  handing over the cheque at the temple in Jalan Awang Ramli Amit here.

Dr Annuar, who is Assistant Minister for Education, Science and Technological Research, recounted that this was the second assistance from Unifor having received RM55,000 previously.

The Nangka assemblyman stated that under Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) fund, Sibu Sikh Temple had received RM400,000 in total.

“From this sum, RM200,000 went to the construction of hostel for worshippers which was completed recently,” he said.
