KUCHING: A total of RM18 million will be provided in 2020 to assist mothers in Sarawak for post-natal care upon giving birth, said Chief Minister Abang Johari Tun Openg.
Abang Johari said when tabling the 2020 Sarawak Budget today that these mother will each receive RM450 effective from Jan 1 next year onwards.
The financial assistance to mothers is intended to help lessen their financial burden when receiving post-natal care, he explained.
On Jan 1, 2019, the state government had also set up the ‘Endowment Fund Sarawak’ under which newborn babies each receive a RM1,000 incentive. The announcement was made by Abang Johari during the tabling of the State Budget last year.
