Soon Koh attends DUN sitting as Bawang Assan rep, seated within GPS backbenchers’ vicinity in chamber

KUCHING: Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh, who has resigned from the State Cabinet, is attending the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting as merely Bawang Assan assemblyman from today.

The Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) president is still seated within the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) backbenchers’ vicinity in the chamber.

Wong’s new seat is now between those of Pakan assemblyman Dato Sri William Mawan Ikom and Mulu assemblyman Dato’ Gerawat Gala, who is also Deputy DUN Speaker.

Wong announced his resignation mid-July this year and left the Cabinet the following month.

He is formerly the second finance minister and minister of international trade and e-commerce.

Padungan assemblyman Wong King Wei, who is still under a 12-month suspension from April this year, is absent from the current sitting.

The Democratic Action Party (DAP) lawmaker was found guilty by the DUN Committee of Privileges of breaching parliamentary privileges on the Nov 9, 2018 sitting, for uttering offensive remarks against the august House, executive, and the Speaker during his debate speech.
