MIRI: Parti Islam Se-Malaysia (PAS) Sarawak, Sabah, and Labuan have set up the PAS Borneo cooperation pact.
Its deputy president Datuk Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man officiated at the event in Kundasang, Sabah on Sunday.
PAS Sarawak commissioner Jofri Jaraiee said the pact includes a resolution to uphold rights under the Malaysia Agreement 1963.
“This is important in preventing the exploitation of misunderstandings by the people here on the issue that certain political parties are using to achieve their purpose and political mileage,” he claimed.
He said PAS Sarawak is willing to form political partnerships with Gabungan Parti Sarawak and other political parties that wish to preserve Bumiputera interests, including Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia and Parti Keadilan Rakyat.
“We hope the pacts will be meaningful to the struggle of PAS in ensuring Bumiputera interests and MA63 is safeguarded,” he said.
He added this would also refute claims by certain quarters that PAS only fights for Muslims
and Peninsular Malaysian interests.
