Tegas boosting entrepreneurship, digital innovation among youths in partnership with SMA

TABUNG Ekonomi Gagasan Anak Bumiputera (Tegas) is working closely with Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA) to enhance entrepreneurship and digital innovation among the youths.

In stating this, Assistant Minister in the Chief Minister’s Department (Corporate Affairs and Sarawak Public Communications Unit) Abdullah Saidol said several activities related to digital technologies had been organised for the youths.

Abdullah pointed out that Tegas in partnership with SMA had organised 112 programmes at Digital Innovation Hub SMA-Tegas in Kuching, Bintulu and Miri, which involved about 3,000 people from September 2017 until July this year.

He said this at the august House in reply to a question raised by Saribas assemblyman Mohamad Razi Sitam, who had asked about the direction of Tegas on the skills and capacity development among youths towards the state’s digital economy initiative.

Abdullah also told the House that Tegas and SMA had developed 91 start-up programmes to develop new digital entrepreneurs.

Replying to Jemoreng assemblyman Dato Dr Juanda Jaya, who asked about the state’s agriculture policy and preparation of the state in food production, Abdullah said the state government was encouraging and facilitating private sector investment in the agricultural sector.

He also pointed out that the government has implemented and introduced modern agriculture mechanisms, including digital technology, constructing and improving agriculture infrastructure, fruit rehabilitation programme, setting up of permanent food production parks, and setting up of collecting, processing and packaging centres.
