A government backbencher has proposed for a heritage centre to be built in Mukah.

Yussibnosh Balo (GPS-Tellian) said such centre would help to promote Mukah through cultural heritage.

He told the august House in his State Budget 2020 debate speech that Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg, during the 2017 Pesta Kaul, had said that Mukah which had about the same population as Cannes in France, could be marketed – if provided with good infrastructure and environment.

Yussibnosh also said the Chief Minister, back then, had also suggested that a wave breaker be built on Mukah Riverbank.

“To meet the aspiration of the Chief Minister to bring in tourists to Mukah through local cultural heritage, I propose that Mukah Heritage Centre be set up,” he said.

Yussibnosh also proposed for Sarawak Skills Development Centre (PPKS) to provide smart agriculture courses to get, prepare and encourage the youths to take up modern agriculture. He added that PPKS, with an allocation of RM220 million, was to produce highly-trained technical and professional workforce to meet the needs of Industrial Revolution 4.0.
