MIRI: Police believe they have solved four gang robbery cases with the arrest of two men on Friday.
Miri police chief ACP Lim Meng Seah said the 28- and 40-year-old were picked up during two separate raids.
“The two suspects are suspected of being involved in the robbery case of a mini mart in Miri District.
“So far, four gang robbery cases have successfully been solved,” he said in a press statement yesterday.
Lim said based on information received, a Criminal Investigation Department team nabbed the first suspect at a Jalan Pujut 4C house around 1.20pm.
“The suspect was hiding in a room inside the house. He brought the police to check a silver Proton Saga FL believed to have been used in the robbery, which was later seized by the team.
“The CID team also seized the car key, a laundry detergent box containing a short sleeved T-shirt and a sweater, two iron rods, six mobile phones, and a tablet during the operation,” said Lim.
He said the Mirian had a past criminal record under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
“The second suspect was detained at a house in Tudan Phase 6 around 2.10pm, where they also seized a Proton Iswara Aeroback, which was found to have been reported missing, and a machete believed to have been used during a robbery in Miri District,” he said.
Lim added the second suspect from Sibu had seven past criminal records related to drugs, theft, and robbery.
