KUCHING: Due to a limited allocation from the federal government, the state Housing and Local Government Ministry is reducing the maximum Federal Government Longhouse Loan, said Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian.

Dr Sim said the maximum loan of RM30,000 would be reduced to RM20,000 per longhouse, after the federal government allocated RM10 million for his ministry for the Longhouse Loan this year.

“Due to the limited allocation and in order to increase the number of beneficiaries for this programme, my ministry has decided to reduce each maximum loan amount from RM30,000 to RM20,000,” he said in his winding up speech at the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) complex today.

Meanwhile, Dr Sim also revealed that he has conveyed to the federal Ministry of Health of the state government’s intention to take over health administrative autonomy.

“I have conveyed to the Ministry of Health regarding the state government’s intention to take over administrative autonomy for health together with the federal annual allocated funding as Sarawakians know the needs of Sarawak better than Putrajaya.

“This is also in line with Sarawak PH’s manifesto promises,” he said.
