MIRI: PKR Limbang is giving its undivided support to Baru Bian as PKR Sarawak chairman and to lead PKR Sarawak in the coming state election.

PKR Limbang deputy chairman Edward Bulot Yakot brushed aside the allegation by certain quarters that PKR Limbang was one of the party’s branches in northern Sarawak involved in the bid to topple Baru as PKR chairman as reported by the media recently.

“PKR Limbang is giving its solid support to the leadership of PKR Sarawak chief Baru Bian to lead PKR Sarawak into the coming election and maintain him as its state chairman,” Edward told The Borneo Post yesterday.

According to Edward, the branch committee and PKR members were puzzled by the allegation because all this while, PKR Limbang was with Baru.

He said PKR Limbang members were shocked and reacted with utter disgust when they read a newspaper report recently about the alleged ouster of Baru as chairman of PKR Sarawak by several northern divisional chiefs including PKR Limbang.

“We deeply believe only YB Baru Bian has the credibility and support of the grassroots to lead PKR Sarawak into the coming election, especially in Limbang,” he pointed out, urging those spreading such rumours to stop connecting PKR Limbang.

“We are further scandalised that Limbang was mentioned as one of the northern divisions involved in the attempted ouster. We urge all PKR Limbang members to not be easily influenced by the report.

“We, the grassroots leaders of Bukit Kota, are members of PKR Limbang and we wish to state that we were never consulted on this matter,” he said further.

Edward pointed out that this backroom manoeuvre by hidden hands is tantamount to destabilising PKR Sarawak.

“We are facing the state election soon and the last thing we want is for internal squabbles to affect the image and strength of our party,” he added.

Meanwhile, he said PKR Limbang members had urged their divisional chief to issue a clarification on this grave matter immediately.

Present were PKR Bukit Kota political bureau chief Ali Abdullah and committee members of PKR Bukit Kota and Batu Danau divisions.

There are about 4,000 PKR members in Limbang.
