SIBU: A pre-dawn fire gutted two vacant houses at Jalan Punai at about 4am yesterday morning.
One of the houses, a corner lot, was completely destroyed while it’s adjacent house suffered 30 per cent damages.
Sarawak Fire Operations Control Room received the distress call at about 3.55am.
A team of 14 firefighters led by Senior Fire Officer II Norhasrita Abdul Manan was immediately dispatched to the scene.
“When the firemen arrived, the fire was still burning,” it said in a press statement.
The firemen had to to draw water from a nearby stream to extinguish the fire.
The whole operation ended at 4.15am.
