KUCHING: Award-winning tHe Spring Shopping Mall is decked up with special decorations and an iconic 15.2-metre Christmas tree to share Yuletide joy.

The Spring Management Services general manager Datin Christine Ling shared that themed ‘Christmas is here’, the decorations were inspired by ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’.

tHe Spring Shopping Mall in-house team came up with the décor complete with a giant beanstalk, castle, golden egg and golden harp to enchant shoppers as they visit the childhood fairy tale given a playful twist with Jack as a garden mouse welcoming shoppers to explore his village, Mausville, and pose for the perfect ‘wefie’ with Jack, the magic harp and golden goose.

Mausville houses the tHe Spring’s Christmas market with stalls offering plenty of stocking-fillers and delicious Yuletide treats.

“Our desire to make tHe Spring the destination for shoppers to indulge in Christmas shopping spree sees tHe Spring spreading the excitement of Christmas through our festive event and activities, and to memorialise this perfect season with a ‘selfie’ or ‘wefie’ with family and friends,” said Ling.

In ‘Eggciting’ quests from Dec 6, shoppers can pick up a Quest card and collect an Egg sticker for every RM150 spent in single receipt.

Redeem five egg stickers for Bath and Body Works Assorted Hand Gel or a L’Occitane Verbena Festive Gift set with 10 egg stickers.

Those who complete the quest also stand a chance to win Christmas goodies from Bath and Body Works and L’Occitane by submitting  completed Quest Cards to the customer service counter.

Live performances on Dec 7 and Christmas eve will set the mood for Christmas.

As a corporate social responsibility campaign, tHe Spring is teaming up with Guardian, MPH Bookstores, Ta Kiong supermarket and MBO Cinemas to introduce ‘tHe Spring’s Eggs of Giving’ to benefit Sarawak Children Cancer Society (SCCS), Hope Place Kuching and Salvation Army and Boys Home.

Shoppers can purchase necessities listed by SCCS and Hope Place Kuching from Guardian for drop off at Guardian’s cashier counter.

Guardian is also sponsoring shampoo, body wash and a Tokidoki plush toy to the little fighters of SCCS.

“One small act of kindness goes a long way and is powerful enough to change one’s life,” said Ling during the launching of tHe Spring Christmas here on Thursday night.

Ling revealed that tHe Spring is working closely with Sarawak Tourism board in the coming months to attract more visitors from Brunei and Indonesia by leveraging advertising and social media platforms.

“So let us come together this Christmas to help the underprivileged and make this Christmas special and meaningful,” she added.

Meanwhile, Kuching South City Council (MBKS) mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng said at the launch that it was always fascinating to see how tHe Spring strive to bring the best visual showcase and experience for shoppers during Christmas season.

tHe Spring Shopping Mall has been nominated for best regional shopping mall by Going Places Reader’s Choice Awards 2019, a Malaysia Airline’s inflight magazine and was a finalist for ‘Outstanding Shopping Mall’ for 8th Sarawak Hornbill Tourism Award 2017/2018.
