Rural clinics, schools affected by flooding in Miri

MIRI: Three rural health clinics and three primary schools in Miri Division were affected by moderate flooding yesterday.

The State Disaster Management Committee secretariat said flooding between 0.5 metres and one metre in depth occurred in three schools – two in Telang Usan and one in Marudi.

According to the Education Department, SK Sungai Bong in Teru, SK Long Panai, and SK Long Bemang in Tinjar-Apoh region were affected.

However, pupils and teachers are unaffected as the year-end school holidays began on Nov 23.

The Health Department reported that rural clinics in Long Bemang, Ulu Teru, and Teru were affected by flooding but remained open.
