SERIAN: Motorists give their thumbs up to the two flyovers here, which are expected to be ready by early next year.

Dayang Qurratu Aini Izatti from Kampung Hulu 2 said the flyovers would benefit road users passing through the town, especially those coming from Kuching, Sri Aman and Sibu, where the traffic would be heavy especially during festive seasons.

“With the two flyovers, I hope it would reduce the congestion here and encourage more people to come from Kuching and Sri Aman,” she said when interviewed by The Borneo Post here recently.

Meanwhile, 20-year old Nur Shazlin Shamsuddin from Kampung Lintang Baru opined that the flyovers would make it convenient for families returning to villages in Sri Aman. She said she would often be stuck in traffic jam upon returning to her village from Kuching.

Stanley Clement, 45, from Kampung Lobang Batu was confident that traffic condition would improve once the flyovers reached completion, singling out traffic jam near the post office in town.

“The road in town is jammed, especially during festive seasons. It is difficult to drive and get a parking space in town.”

It is reported that Serian Flyover 1 is expected to reach completion before the Chinese New Year, while Flyover 2 should be ready by February next year.
