KUCHING: The Civil Defence Force (APM) is monitoring the flood situation at six villages in Samarahan after heavy rain yesterday saw water levels rising.

The State Disaster Management Committee (JPBN) in a press statement said the villages – Kampung Senangeh, Kampung Ulu Sadong Jaya, Kampung Rangawan, Kampung Semera Ulu, Sampun Jagu and Kampung Tambirat – have been identified as areas at risk of flooding.

It said APM personnel from Asajaya had reported that the water level had risen at the six villages, affecting several homes.

However, the situation improved by late yesterday afternoon, with water levels subsiding in most areas and no evacuation of residents required, the statement added.
