KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia Airlines will be adding extra flights to selected key domestic and international destinations to cater to the surge in demand for air travel during the Chinese New Year holidays this month.

A total of 16,720 additional seats are being offered by the national carrier through 22 extra flights and 34 upgraded flights to be operated from Jan 21 until Feb 2, 2020.

According to Malaysia Airlines Group chief executive officer Izham Ismail, it is a practice that the airline does every year to cater to the demand for travel during the festivities.

“We will be increasing 32 per cent of our seat capacity from last year, to allow our customers, especially those who are only available to travel at the very last-minute, to be with their family and loved ones over Chinese New Year.

“We will also be deploying wide-body aircraft of type A330-200 and A330-300, to service the Kuala Lumpur-Singapore and the Kuala Lumpur-Kuching as well as A380-800 aircraft for Kuala Lumpur-Narita routes,” he said in press statement.

Malaysia Airlines encourages travellers to purchase their tickets early to enjoy low fares.

Travellers can grab fares from as low as RM129 under the MH Lite fare category to Malaysia Airlines domestic destinations, for travel from Jan 21 until Feb 2 this year.

Guests can make their bookings to ‘balik kampung’ on www.malaysiaairlines.com or on Malaysia Airlines mobile app.
