KUCHING: The nine families, who had taken shelter at the flood relief centre in Dewan Kampung Entangor, Sebuyau since Jan 10, were allowed to go back to their respective houses yesterday.

According to Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (JPBN), all 29 victims from nine families are those living in low-lying areas in Kampung Entangor, whose houses were under 1.5m of floodwater.

As the weather condition improved, the floodwater in the area had fully receded, which allowed the villagers to return home.

The 29 victims comprise eight men, seven women, eight boys, four girls, one elderly man and an elderly woman.

The JPBN statement also said heavy rain would be expected in several areas in Sarawak, until tomorrow (Jan 14).

Among the areas are Sri Aman, Betong, Sarikei, Sibu, Mukah, Kapit (Song, Kapit and Bukit Mabong), Bintulu, Miri (Subis, Beluru and Marudi) and Limbang.
