MIRI: Miri City Council (MCC) yesterday launched a two-month trial run for its digital application-based parking management for the city.

Mayor Adam Yii, who performed the launching, said he hoped for the support of the city’s motorists for the ‘SmartParking Borneo’ app during the trial period.

“If there are any shortcomings to the application during the trial run, we will improve it for the users’ convenience,” he said in his address.

Yii said this approach is part of MCC’s initiatives to transform Miri into a smart city, adding that digital car-parking will replace the current use of parking coupons.

“As Miri has been selected for the smart city pilot project in Sarawak, it’s the right time for MCC to adopt and go for digital parking management. Many places in the country have already implemented this system.”
