Foreigner with RM1,800 worth of drugs nabbed

BINTULU: Police arrested a foreign man in possession of RM1,800 worth of drugs yesterday.

Bintulu District deputy police chief DSP Jame Reis, in a statement, said the unemployed man, 34, was nabbed near a business premises at Jalan Abang Galau around 9.30am.

He said the suspect also turned aggressive and put up a struggle during the inspection.

The police found three transparent plastic packets and one straw tube containing crystal-like substance believed to be methamphetamine (syabu) weighing 9 grammes in his sling bag.

“The suspect who has no criminal record was tested positive for methamphetamine and amphetamine,” said Jame, adding the suspect was being investigated under Section 39A(1) and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

The suspect will also be investigated under Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63.
