MEMBAKUT: Infrastructure Development Minister Datuk Peter Anthony has told Sabah Umno Youth leaders to get their facts right before accusing Warisan leaders of any wrongdoings.

“Tell the Umno Youth chief (Aziz Julkarnain) to properly investigate and get his facts right before accusing me of any wrongdoing,” said Peter when asked to comment on an accusation made by Sabah Umno Youth chief Aziz Julkarnain who claimed that Parti Warisan Sabah vice-president and Sukau assemblyman Datuk Saddi Abdul Rahman were allegedly involved in taking down BN campaign materials at Kampung Madang Pimping in Membakut on Monday.

The incident was also believed caught on video and went viral on social media.

Peter clarified that on that said day, he was invited for an event at the village when more than 450 PBS members decided to ditch the BN coalition party and joined Parti Warisan Sabah.

“I was invited to accept their membership. Coincidently a BN headquarters was beside the event and the new members decided to take down BN flags and banners.

“So the accusation made by BN, that I was involved in taking down their banners, is a total lie,” he said when met at a ceramah at Kampung Bandau in Membakut.

Peter added that when the alleged incident happened, Special Branch police and Election Commission officers were present but believed no criminal elements were involved.

Meanwhile, Peter said he also believed the accusation made by several BN leaders in accusing him of being anti-Muslim was just tactics by the opposition to win public sympathy in the run-up to the Kimanis by-election.

“In all my ceramah with villagers either in Bongawan, Kimanis or in Membakut, I have never looked down nor criticised the Muslim community.

“Warisan Sabah is a party that is made up of multiracial people and religion and we respect every race and religion,” he said.
