BINTULU: The Health Department office here will organise a ‘gotong-royong’ to clean the area at MLNG Housing, Jalan Tanjung Kidurong tomorrow (Jan 18).
This community project is held in response to the rise in dengue cases reported in MLNG Housing, BDA Housing, ABF Housing and Jewel Park.
Bintulu health officer Dr Norliza Jusoh urged residents in the affected areas to come forward and join in the gotong-royong activities.
“It is important for the local residents to give their support and cooperation in the cleaning- up activities to destroy potential Aedes breeding spots,” she said.
Dr Norliza pointed out that it is the joint responsibility of the people in the housing areas to destroy breeding spots in their homes and compounds.
She also warned that a RM500 compound will be issued under Section 25 of the Destruction of Disease-Bearing Insects Act 1975, to anyone found with Aedes mosquito breeding spots within their premises.
The meeting point for the cleaning-up event is at Millenium Park at 7.30am.
Among the activities lined up for the event are health exhibition and health talk about dengue fever.
