Community leaders urged to execute duties diligently

JULAU: Community leaders are urged to execute their duties diligently in accordance with the stipulated scope of duties and responsibilities.

Meluan assemblyman Rolland Duat said this when officiating at the presentation of appointment certificates to the newly appointed and reappointed community leaders in the constituency at the district office here yesterday.

He also called on the people to support the state government in fighting for its right; in claiming its rights under Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63), and fair share of income from the oil and gas.

A total of 46 community leaders made up of longhouse
chiefs (Tuai Rumah), and Kapitans from the Chinese Community received appointment certificates from Rolland during the function.

They comprised two newly appointed penghulu – Tadeng Kalang and Blawan Grinang, 30 reappointed and 13 newly appointed Tuai Rumah, and one reappointed Kapitan.

Deputy Resident Abang Mohd Porkan Abang Budiman was on hand to brief the community leaders on the scope of their duties, allowance and privileges.

Julau District Officer Khalid Andong congratulated the appointed and reappointed community leaders.

He urged them to work closely with the district office and other relevant agencies to ensure smooth delivery of development projects, and dissemination of state government policies and programmes.

A political secretary to chief minister Brian Fung, and SAO Louis Yeo were also present.
