KUCHING: Julau MP Larry Sng wants Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) to take disciplinary action against leaders who have disobeyed the party’s central leadership.

Sng, who is a member of the party’s central leadership, said he was referring to PKR Vice president Zuraida Kamaruddin and all those who supported her, including several leaders inside the Sarawak PKR chapter.

“It is high time that the discipline bureau takes action against leaders who openly defy the central leadership. Not only does it weaken the party but it delays the leadership transition of the prime ministership,” said Sng through a press statement issued last night.

He made the remarks following Zuraida’s action of criticising party leadership in the open after being issued a show-cause letter by the disciplinary committee.

Sng said PKR Sarawak has not taken a position to support Zuraida because they have yet to discuss it at the state supreme council meeting.

“I am sure that the majority of the party’s members feel betrayed by their actions, and the party should sack them immediately before they do further damage. This has gone on for too long and they have gone too far,” he said.

“PKR Sarawak should not support leaders who do not attend MPP (party central leadership) meetings.

“If these individuals do not wish to take collective responsibility and want to go on their own agenda to destroy the party leadership, discipline must be taken against them,” Sng insisted.

On Monday, Sarawak PKR Information Chief Desmond Kho through a press release disclosed that the party’s state chapter has thrown its support behind Zuraida.

Sng is a supporter of PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Zuraida, who has been given 14 days to respond to the letter, was critical of Anwar and his supporters.

PKR Sarawak secretary Vernon Kedit when contacted today said the chapter and its chairman Baru Bian in particular are not commenting over Sng’s reaction at this juncture.
