Cops raid illicit firecracker, liquor storehouse

LAWAS: A six-hour surveillance conducted by the police resulted in the seizure of contraband firecrackers and liquors of various kinds worth RM43,000 from a storehouse at Kampung Melusok, Jalan Punang on Wednesday.

The operation conducted at 11am was led by Lawas District Police Chief, DSP Roslan Leman along with officials and personnel from the Lawas District Police Headquarters (IPD) Criminal Investigation Division.

“During the surveillance, no one was present in the area and police had to force open the locked door of the store.

“After conducting a thorough examination of the storehouse, we found seven types of firecrackers and eight different types of liquor worth RM43,000 without custom taxes,” he said in a statement.

All the seized items were taken to the Lawas Police Station for further investigation under the Customs Act 1967 and the Explosives Act 1958.
