Man found dead in front of food stall

KOTA KINABALU: A man was found dead in front of a food stall at Kampung Inanam Laut, here early yesterday morning.

The victim, identified as Jimboy Basal, 40, was found dead with deep wounds, believed inflicted by a sharp object, on his neck around midnight on January 22.

Kota Kinabalu police chief ACP Habibi Majinji said investigation revealed that prior to the incident, the victim’s 14-year-old son was confronted by four men, including one of their cousins, asking about the whereabouts of his father.

The son however ignored the four men and left the area.

“Around 1.50am, police were informed of a man found lying motionless in front of a food stall at Kg Inanam Laut.

“The man was found dead with deep wounds on his neck, believed to have been inflicted with a sharp object,” said Habibi.

Following the incident, police have detained a man who is believed to be involved in the case.

Police were currently tracking down the remaining three individuals to assist investigation, said Habibi, adding that the case would be investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
