KOTA KINABALU: Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Christina Liew said no traces of coronavirus had been detected in the state so far.

Liew, who is also the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Environment, explained her ministry would be working together with the Health and People’s Wellbeing Ministry to prevent the spread of the virus to Sabah.

“We will be working together with the ministry by monitoring foreign tourists coming into the state.

“Meanwhile, Kota Kinabalu International Airport (KKIA) has been switched to high alert mode to scan all passengers of international flights entering Sabah.

“My ministry is taking this matter seriously and at the moment no restrictions have been made on the entry of foreign aircraft to Sabah, including China,” she said at a press conference yesterday after paying a courtesy call to the Head of State Tun Dr Juhar Mahiruddin at the Istana Negeri.

According to Liew, the courtesy call was to invite Tun Juhar and his consort Toh Puan Norlidah R.M Jasni to attend the state level Chinese New Year open house at Hakka Hall in Tanjung Lipat this Sunday.

She also invited members of the public to come and celebrate it together as many activities had been planned such as cultural activities, stage performances, lion dance and performances from local artistes.
