BINTANGOR: A 58-year-old motorcyclist was killed in an accident at Mile 3 KJD Road near here around 8.30pm on Wednesday, while his two children, who were riding pillion, were injured.
Meradong police chief DSP Sekam Anoi said Semada Beti suffered serious head injuries and died at the scene.
He said Semada’s seven-year-old son also suffered serious head injuries and required treatment at Sibu Hospital, while his 14-year-old daughter suffered minor injuries.
According to the daughter, they were on their way from their longhouse Rumah Wong, Sungai Rayah, Mile 5 KJD Road to visit their mother, who is working in Sibu, for the Chinese New Year school holiday.
Sekam said based on the initial investigation, the accident occurred along a dark stretch of the Pan Borneo Highway which is still under construction and did not involve any other vehicle.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of Road Transport Act 1987.
