KUCHING: A man, 63, was found dead in the middle of the road at Kampung Cina Beratok by a villager yesterday.

Sarawak Traffic Investigation and Enforcement chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu said the deceased has been identified as Chin Kin Sen from Beratok.

“It is believed that he is a victim of a hit-and-run accident,” Alexson said in a press statement.

Chin suffered head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel from Serian Hospital.

He added the accident is believed to have happened between midnight and 1am yesterday as the body was already stiff (rigor mortis) when found around 8.30am.

It is also believed that Chin was walking along the dark road (due to lack of street lighting) when he was hit by a vehicle.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
