MIRI: Pakatan Harapan (PH) Sarawak will always ensure the people in the state are not left out from development projects brought about by the federal government.

PH Sarawak secretary Senator Alan Ling said such commitment showed that the federal government was concerned about the welfare of the people in Sarawak.

“There is a need for civil servants from both the federal and state governments to work closely because we want to make sure all the federal government policies and projects can reach the people totally,” he stated during his open house at Imperial Palace Hotel here on Saturday.

Ling, who is also Malaysia Palm Oil Board (MPOB) director, said the federal government is committed to giving its best service to the people, including those in Sarawak.

On his open house, he viewed it as another platform for the Chinese community to renew and foster good relationship with their non-Chinese friends.

“While sharing the festive season joy, it is important for us to renew and strengthen existing relationships and continue to respect each other regardless of race, religion and culture.

“The open house during festive season is another good example where the people in the state are able to set aside all their differences and come together to share the joy of the celebration.”

Later at the same function, Ling presented red packets to all the children present.

More than 300 people from various races and religions attended the open house to wish Ling and his family a Happy and Prosperous Chinese New Year.

Also present were Pujut assemblyman Dr Ting Tiong Choon, Democratic Action Party (DAP) Miri youth chief Peter Hee and Northern Sarawak Journalist Association (NSJA) president Andy Jong.
