The SUV landed upside down after hitting the concrete barrier. The driver and two passengers were unhurt.

MIRI: Telang Usan assemblyman Dennis Ngau and two members of the media survived unscathed after they were involved in an accident while travelling in a sports utility vehicle (SUV) that overturned after it hit a concrete barrier.

Their vehicle was traveling from the town of Long Lama to the city centre at around 12.25am in the wee hours today (Feb 1) when the mishap occurred at Bukit Song along Jalan Lambir-Miri here.

The driver was said to have lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the road barrier, landing on the side of the road.

The loud noise from the impact alerted passengers in a car passing through the area to the accident.

Dennis with the two reporters from The Borneo Post and New Sarawak Tribune managed to crawl out of the SUV unhurt, though shocked by the ordeal.

“The accident happened in the blink of an eye. It was unexpected as the car was traveling quite slow.

“Thank goodness me and two other friends from the media are safe,” he said.

Dennis and the two reporters were involved in the accident on their way back from a Telang Usan district level Chinese New Year celebration at Long Lama town Friday evening.
