MIRI: Seven local men and a foreign woman have been arrested to facilitate investigation into the murder of a man yesterday.

Sarawak Deputy Police Commissioner Dato’ Dev Kumar when contacted this morning, said with the arrest of the eight suspects, police believed they have solved the case in less than 24 hours.

“The suspects were between 20 and 40 years old, while the identity of the victim has yet to be confirmed as no documents were found on him,” said Dev Kumar.

He said the victim was brought to Miri Central Police station at around 9.35pm last night in an unconscious state by members of the public.

Paramedics from Miri Hospital, who were called to the police station, then pronounced the victim dead, which prompted the police to investigate the case as murder.

“Initial investigation showed that the victim was hit for allegedly stealing handphone belonging to a female suspect.

“Other details of the case has yet to be obtained and that the investigation is underway, “said Dev.

Police are investigating the case under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
