KUCHING: People who are required to undergo home quarantine as a precaution against the Wuhan coronavirus should isolate themselves and not have meals with their family, the Sarawak state operations rooms said in a list of do’s and dont’s today.

The advisory also stated that they are to wear face mask if they go into a common area of their house, maintain a distance of at least one-metre from a person, and not go to public places.

“In case you need food or groceries, please get help from your other family members to do it. In case there is no family member, you may try to get food delivered to your doorstep but on receiving, please put on a face mask and stand a distance of at least three feet (one metre away from the food delivery person).

“Wash your hands prior to receiving the food. If there is any issue or concern in getting food supply, please inform the quarantine officer prior to the quarantine to facilitate arrangement,” the advisory said issued today

It also advised people to practice good cough etiquette and hand hygiene, as well as to drink lots of water and consume Vitamin C, adding that they should also have sufficient rest.

The advisory said If people find that they are developing symptoms of the novel virus, they are to put on a face mask and go to the nearest hospital for assessment. If they require transportation, they can call 999 for ambulance assistance.

There have been eight confirmed cases of Wuhan coronavirus in Malaysia but so far, none are in Sarawak.
