LIMBANG: Three more ‘Anjung Usahawan’ one-stop centres will be built here to serve as platforms for budding entrepreneurs to develop and thrive, says Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan.

He said the three facilities will be cover the Bukit Kota and Batu Danau state constituencies, as part of the Sarawak government’s efforts to help small and medium enterprises (SME) in this part of the state.

“NRDA (Northern Region Development Agency) will allocate funds for the Anjung Usahawan planned for Medamit in Batu Danau and Kampung Pahlawan. We are also planning to build an Anjung Usahawan near the second Limbang bridge,” he said during the opening ceremony of an Anjung Usahawan centre in Limbang town yesterday.

Awang Tengah, who is also Minister of International Trade and Industry, Industrial Terminal and Entrepreneur Development, said SMEs form the backbone of the national economy and that his ministry has adopted an entrepreneur development-oriented approach to encourage SMEs to flourish throughout the state.

He said the state Government is taking a leaf from China’s transformation into an economic superpower, by laying the foundation with good infrastructure and connectivity.

“The economy of a town will not grow without the growth of rural areas, and infrastructure and basic amenities to connect our rural and coastal areas such as Limbang and Lawas is currently being undertaken by the state government,” he said.

He added his ministry will assist fledgling entrepreneurs by easing them with the one-stop Anjung Usahawan concept, which provides trading, processing, training and e-commerce orientation facilities.

Among those present at event were Assistant Minister of International Trade and Industry, Industrial Terminal and Entrepreneur Development Datuk Mohd Naroden Majais, Assistant Minister of Agriculture Modernisation, Native Land and Regional Development Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Ismail who is Bukit Kota assemblyman, Limbang MP Hasbi Habibollah and Batu Danau assemblyman Paulus Palu Gumbang.
