KOTA KINABALU: Several Sabah veteran politicians have come together to urge the relevant authority to take immediate action against self-styled Sultan of Sulu Datu Mohd Akjan Ali Muhammad for his continued outrageous claims.

Sabah Star president Datuk Dr Jeffrey Kitingan questioned why the authority has not taken any action against Akjan who has persistently continued to provoke, instigate and insult the people of Sabah and the Malaysian government.

“He (Akjan) continues to insult Sabah by posting videos and statements in social media claiming that he is the Sultan of Sulu.

“I would like to remind him (Akjan) that there is no Sultan of Sulu here (in Sabah) but it is over there (in Sulu).

“If he claimed to be the Sultan of Sulu, it means that he had trespassed on our country,” Jeffrey said yesterday.

Jeffrey also questioned several statements made by Akjan including the word ‘first-class’.

“When he claimed he is first-class, what does it mean? When he said ‘jangan jolok sarang tebuan’ what does he mean? When he said the Kadazan-Dusun doesn’t exist in the constitution, what does he actually mean?” Jeffrey asked.

“I am also surprised why he is so confident that the Sabah Temporary Pass (PSS) will be implemented as if he is in power and has control of the government.

“We, therefore, hope the relevant authority would take action against Akjan immediately because his statements have brought fears among the people of Sabah. We don’t feel safe anymore especially with the videos and statements he made in social media,” said Jeffrey.

Parti Cinta Sabah president Datuk Seri Panglima Wilfred Bumburing said Sabahans had never insulted any race or religion as claimed by Akjan in one of his videos.

“In one of his videos, Akjan claimed that we Sabahans always insult Filipinos and refer to them as ‘pilak’ but we Sabahans never showed lack of respect to other people’s race and religion.

“We are only fighting what is our rights and object to those who enter our country illegally,” he said.

Another veteran politician, Datuk Lawrence Gimbang, who represents the Orang Asli Sabah, urges the government to respect the constitution and to review the issuance of passes to illegal immigrants.

“No country has ever given a pass or identification card to illegal immigrants. Even people from West Malaysia are only given a three-month stay when they enter Sabah, but these illegal immigrants are allowed to stay in Sabah for years.

“It doesn’t make sense, it is an insult to the people of Sabah. The Malaysian government must take immediate action and respect our law,” said Lawrence.

Meanwhile, a police report was yesterday lodged at the Karamunsing police headquarters at 10am by an NGO, urging the police and relevant authority to take immediate action against Akjan.
