SERIAN: The Water Supply Grid Masterplan for Sarawak is expected to be implemented next year.

Minister of Utilities Dato Sri Dr Stephen Rundi said a study on the masterplan had been completed and it would be brought up to the state Cabinet for discussion.

He said the masterplan was meant to ensure a resilient water supply system for the state.

“We want to kick off the masterplan in 2021.

“The masterplan is the state government’s initiative to provide clean uninterrupted water supply to people in rural areas by 2025,” he told reporters after launching the RM4 million water supply project for Kpg Panchor Dayak yesterday.

He also said more than RM100 million had been allocated for addressing water-related problems in the Tarat constituency, including the RM4 million project in Panchor Dayak, which is scheduled to be completed in July this year.

On electricity supply, he said 97 per cent of the state had electricity coverage while the government had also allocated RM2.37 billion to connect the remaining areas.
