PUTRAJAYA: The implementation of early redemption of Accumulated Leave of GCR (Gantian Cuti Rehat) for up to 75 days as replacement pay for civil servants who have at least 15 years of service requires an amendment to Pensions Regulations 1980.

Public Service Department (PSD) in a statement here yesterday said the amendment needs to be done first to ensure the early redemption of GCR could be implemented properly according to the law currently in force.

”The announcement on the early redemption of GCR will be made through a service circular which is to be issued and distributed to all government ministries, departments and agencies,” the statement said.

Yesterday, the Congress of Unions of Employees in the Public and Civil Services (Cuepacs) called for the circular allowing civil servants to make early redemption of GCR for up to 75 days as replacement pay to be issued as soon as possible. — Bernama
