11 Pan Borneo highway packages to be completed by 2023

KOTA KINABALU: The Ministry of Works and Sabah State Government are committed to ensure that the present awarded 11 Pan Borneo Sabah highway packages are to be completed by 2023, said Special Officer to the Minister of Works, Dr Roland Chia.

“There are currently three Pan Borneo awarded packages in Sepanggar parliamentary constituency stretching from Inanam, Manggatal to Tuaran with an approximate distance of about 30km and costing about RM1.8 billion to construct,” he said.

The Sepanggar PKR divisional chief disclosed that the total construction cost of Pan Borneo Highway in Sabah is RM12.8 billion and the Federal Government is committed to pump in RM1 billion a year towards construction of this mega project highway in Sabah.

Speaking at PKR Sepanggar’s Chinese New Year celebration here recently, Dr Roland expressed confidence that the RM1.8 billion development poured into Sepanggar through the Pan Borneo Highway, the business community, the local villages and the residents will be able to benefit from employment and also the spin-off effect from the supply chain from the road construction.

Among those present were Assistant Minister of Trade and Industry cum Karambunai assemblyman Azhar Matussin, Member of Parliament for Kota Kinabalu Chan Foong Hing, Member of Parliament for Ranau Jonathan Yassin, PKR Tawau divisional chief Datuk Kong Hong Ming and State PKR Woman chief Rahimah Majid.
